Gemma Bowker

BDS Liverpool 2010

I qualified from Liverpool University in 2010 and started working at D4A the same year as a Foundation Dentist. After completing the year I subsequently stayed on as an Associate Dentist and have now been with the practice for 7 years.

I was appointed a Therapy Student Clinical tutor in 2014 and an Educational Supervisor for Foundation Dentists in 2016. This means I provide a mentoring/clinical supervision role for newly qualified dentists and undergraduate therapy students. I find that these roles help myself and the clinicians in the practice keep up to date with current techniques and knowledge so that we can ensure we are always providing high quality care for our patients. I recently completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical teaching and supervision from Edgehill University to help me fulfil the role to the best of my ability.

I am currently on Maternity Leave with my second baby and plan to return to work in spring 2018. My life is mainly taken up with Mummy duties at present so I would love to claim I travel, read, exercise and the rest, but I just don’t have time at present! I do however find lots of time for eating and watching films.
